Children's Choirs 2020-2021 Registration
Our Children's Choir program is open to all children in 1st through 6th grades. We currently have close to 150 children involved in our 4 choirs. The choirs sing occasionally in morning and evening services, seasonally in a Christmas program and end the year with a concert or musical. The program includes musicianship, hymn memorization and instruction in worship.
This season will look different due to COVID-19 protocol. Many have heard about the concern surrounding singing and the spread of the virus. We have summarized our response here. More detailed information is available on our website (www.college-church.org/children/music) or in the links at the end of this registration process. This year, choirs will have an earlier and shortened rehearsal time, meeting each Sunday from 5-5:45 pm. Choir groups will probably be divided in half and meet on alternate Sundays unless classes are small. They will be seated 6 ft apart, will wear masks and will be placed in 4 large rooms. While there will not be a full Christmas Festival this year, we will be recording 3 Advent/Christmas pieces to be included in the morning worship services in December. In January we will use a similar format for meeting and will prepare the musical we began last year. This will most likely be recorded and presented virtually as well.
The Cherub Choir is our 1st grade boys and girls. Their involvement in services is limited so that emphasis
can be made on basic music and vocal skills. This choir enjoys lots of movement and interacts with
materials such as bean bags, scarves and percussion instruments.
The Hosanna Choir is for girls in 2nd and 3rd grades and our 2nd grade boys (our 3rd grade boys are invited
to join the Boys' Choir). They fully participate in worship services and concerts but still have weekly
opportunity to learn through movement and games.
The Alleluia Choir is open to all 4th-6th grade girls. They enjoy spending time with one another while working hard
to grow in music reading abilities and perfecting a unified tone.
The Boys' Choir is made up of our oldest boys, the 3rd-6th graders. With an all male staff, they enjoy lots of extra 'boys stuff.'
Fees: $5.00 registration fee Waived this year. $18.00 choir t-shirt, a different shirt required for each choir. Children will be wearing these shirts while recording their music this year. While each choir's shirt is different,
the t-shirts are the same shirts we have been using for many years.
When registering please include the grade your child will be entering in the fall.
T-shirts are worn on t-shirt/treat night and for our recorded Sunday performances.
We will not be using choir robes this year.
